14 former ministers of good government refuse to leave their quarters
During the last UNP Good Governance government, 14 former ministers have asked the Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government to allow them to stay in their used quarters.
Minister Janaka Bandara Tennakoon stated that he rejected the request.
The Minister said that the former ministers had made this request in writing and that the request could not be granted.
However, the Minister has informed the former ministers that action should be taken to handover the official quarters and if necessary, legal action would be taken.
Accordingly, a letter has been sent to Speaker Karu Jayasuriya seeking permission to take legal action against ministers who have not yet been handed over to official quarters.
However, after the presidential election, all former ministers were given more than three months to leave the official quarters.
